Good BusinessUnder The Good Foundation

The house

Patient commerce

Commerce under the family name.

Good Business is how The Good Foundation builds under the family name — same standards, counsel in the room from the start, and time to get it right. Commercial real estate is the family's wheelhouse; not every move under this roof is a consumer product.

The Good Foundation · Counsel in the room

Commercial real estate in the blood.

The wheelhouse

A generation of principal work on the West Coast sits behind the eye this house brings to a deed or a pro forma — acquisitions, development, leasing, and disposition across office, flex, and industrial, cycle after cycle.

Another seat in the family leads national acquisitions for Sagard Real Estate, formerly EverWest — institutional underwriting at that scale is part of how this house thinks about risk, hold, and exit.

That is wheelhouse, not a public promise. Not every Good Business move is a consumer product. When land, buildings, or timing belong under this name, we take the time to get it right.

Good Gustafson. On purpose.

Counsel in the room

Chris and Scott of Good Gustafson sit as in-house counsel from day one. That is how something lasting gets built — not a scramble after the press kit ships.

Chris and Scott of Good Gustafson serve as in-house general counsel for the Foundation's ventures and commercial work. Contracts, compliance, structure, and the hard no sit beside the work — not after it ships. When the law is in the room early, the work can move with confidence instead of regret.

A play wears the Good name only when it can stand as real commerce and still meet the standards we hold everything else to. We are proud of that.

Before it ships

How a play earns the name.

Four gates. Miss one and it does not wear Good.

  1. 01

    Same name

If it cannot wear Good in public, it does not ship under Good Business.

  2. 02

    Counsel first

Structure and compliance are designed with the work — not bolted on when the press kit is already written.

  3. 03

    Earn the slate

Charity elsewhere does not buy a weak play a seat. It has to stand as commerce.

  4. 04

    Long horizon

We will wait for the standard to be real. Speed that burns the name is not speed we want.

What does not change.

Some of our work is given freely. Some of it is commerce we build under the family name — with the same standards, and counsel in the room from the start.

  1. Same roof

Ventures and commercial plays wear the Good name under The Good Foundation — not as a spin-out with a different set of rules.

  2. Law early

In-house counsel from Good Gustafson is part of how we build — not a scramble when something is already live.

  3. Stand as commerce

A play has to work as a business. Generosity elsewhere does not excuse weak work here.

  4. Adult truth

When the offering is for adults, we say so plainly — and we refuse the soft sell that pretends otherwise.

First

Lettuce gets washed. So does our leaf.

Triple-washed leaf for cigars and pipe — produce logic, adult craft, the first venture on the slate.

  1. First wash

Strip field dust and surface residue the way produce gets its first rinse — the pass that should never have been optional.

  2. Second wash

A second pass for what the first leaves behind. Most supply chains never budget for the middle rinse. We do.

  3. Third wash

A final rinse so the leaf that moves toward a cigar or a bowl is the cleanest cut of the lot — not the cheapest.

Stay close to the slate.

Leave an email for venture updates. We write only when a named milestone is real (e.g. Good Tobacco wash standard or bench date) — not for vibe posts. Adults of legal age only where the offering requires it.

The Good Foundation

Under one roof.

Good Business sits under The Good Foundation — not beside it. Commerce we build wears the family name. They do not get a separate house.
